This tour covers past, present, and future of Green-Wood Cemetery and its place in Brooklyn's and the city's larger history in terms of commemoration of life and death. The tour highlights major works of art and architecture among the mausoleums in the cemetery. This tour also highlights gravesites on the western half of the cemetery, including some of Green-Wood's "permanent residents" who have made an impact on New York's story and on LGBTQ history, culture, and experiences in America, such as Leonard Bernstein and Emma Stebbins (sculptor of the "Angel of the Waters" statue atop Bethesda Fountain in Central Park); and covers of the history, peopling, and contemporary issues of the Sunset Park neighborhood to the south and west of the cemetery.
